Capistrano Valley Baseball

Thank you for your interest in Capo Baseball!  Over the last 46 years, Capistrano Valley baseball has had an inordinate amount of success on the field winning 7 CIF titles and 20 league titles.  We are proud of our history and continue to foster an environment built around hard work, teamwork, and toughness.

What most people do not know about our program is the amount of academic success our program has had!  Just in the last 10 years, our baseball program has been named the top academic sports program in the county…TWICE.  We take education very seriously and are always willing to help our players succeed in the classroom.

Every year our players get the opportunity to graduate and play at the next level.  Our coaching staff is dedicated to winning at the high school level AND preparing our players for the highest level.  We have had over 15 commitments from schools to our players in the past 5 years alone!  Our players are prepared to play at any level upon graduation and we are pleased that currently there are 4 MLB players we call alums and countless minor leaguers and college players working to achieve their goals.

We separate ourselves from other schools in the county with our commitment to treat each other like family.  We keep small numbers on each one of our teams to maximize development, exposure and ensure fair opportunity.  We do not have an A or B team.  We have one team at each level that competes to win a South Coast League title every year.  We have at least 2 coaches at EACH level to lead and mentor all of our players.  Scouts, former players, and alumni are always welcome to join us to help lead our team to our goals.

Lastly, due to our small numbers on campus, we have open enrollment.  This means that if you live inside the Capistrano Unified boundaries, you can come to Capo no matter what high school you are zoned for.  Please email our principal, John Misustin (jnmisustin@capousd.org) if you are interested in open enrollment, a campus tour or have questions about the process.

We do have a feeder program that runs through one of our coaches, Chuck Menzhuber.  If you are in 7th or 8th grade and interested in joining, please email him at pumabaseball44@cox.net.  Even if you are not coming to Capo, you are still welcome to join this program and reap the benefits of the great coaching and a welcoming environment.

We have a summer camp that is for incoming freshman as well as younger grades.  See the Summer Camp tab for more information!

*It is not mandatory to join Puma or participate in the summer camp to join our program – however it does allow us to get to know your player in greater depth before tryouts which are held the first two weekends of the school year.

Thank you for all you do for your student-athlete,

Go Cougars!
